Clicks & Clarity

Episode 1: Why Isn’t My Website Working the Way I Need It To?

Synopsis

In this first episode of Clicks & Clarity, Gaurav (Rav) Mendiratta joins to address a common question many business owners ask: Why does my website look great but still attract spam or get no response? If your site isn’t gaining traction, you might be making one of these mistakes:

  • Focusing on yourself instead of showing value
  • Leaving out trust elements like real testimonials
  • Overlooking drop-off points and poor user flow

To improve this and start converting visitors:

  • Focus on the customer’s problem and offer a solution
  • Build credibility with screenshots, reviews, and results
  • Begin SEO during the strategy stage, not after launch

AI can help, but it should be used thoughtfully. It’s a co-pilot, not the driver.

If your website isn’t bringing in the right leads, it’s time to make changes.

Bobby C:

Hello folks, welcome to Clicks & Clarity powered by Socio Squares. I’m Bobby C, and this is episode one. Why isn’t my website working the way I need it to? This is the show where we answer real questions business owners ask about websites, SEO, AI, and online marketing, without the fluff. And today’s topic? Why do some websites look great but bring in nothing but spam leads and radio silence? Joining me is our CEO here at Socio Squares, Gaurav Mendiratta, also known as Rav.

Rav:

Let’s go, Bobby. This one’s personal because we hear this all the time, right? Two things come up again and again: “I don’t know if my website is doing anything.” “All I get are spam leads.” And honestly, so many websites are just bragging. They’re like digital brochures, trying to be Batman but making the visitor feel like Robin.

Bobby C:

Exactly. And no customer wants to feel like Robin and then pay Batman.

Rav:

Right. Your website shouldn’t be wearing a cape. It should be Alfred: the guide, the advisor. You show up, understand their problem, and then present the plan.

Bobby C:

Love that. First, listen, then guide.

Rav:

And yes, you need to show authority, but only after you’ve laid out the problem and how you solve it. And let’s not forget social proof. Testimonials build trust; that’s huge. But even before that, we need to look at data. Like I always say: “In God we trust. Everyone else, bring data.”

Bobby C:

So how do you start evaluating if a site’s actually working?

Rav:

We start by checking what users actually do on the site. We recently onboarded a client with 3,000 monthly visitors. Sounds great, right?

Bobby C:

Huge for a small business!

Rav:

Yeah. But the average time on site? 15 seconds. That’s not a visit; that’s a bounce. To actually engage, you need people to stick around 90 to 100 seconds.

Bobby C:

That’s when interest starts. Curiosity turns into a lead.

Rav:

Exactly. In that client’s case? Tons of text. No social proof. No calls to action. It was just info; no direction. And that’s the mistake most businesses make. You’ve got to guide the visitor. Make it obvious this is for them.

Bobby C:

So step one: fix the flow. Then the message.

Rav:

Bingo. Understand where users drop off. Then craft messaging that says: “We get your problem; here’s how we fix it.” It’s not a museum piece; it’s a conversation. That’s what turns your site into a digital guide, not just an online flyer. New Website or Redesign? Start Here.

Bobby C:

So if someone’s building a site from scratch or redoing it, how do they avoid the usual mistakes?

Rav:

Good question. I break it down into three parts: Lead with value. Call out the problem your visitor is thinking. Get them to say “yes, that’s me.” Then show them a simple plan. Build trust.  Real reviews. Screenshots. Honest feedback; no fluff. That credibility is gold. Rethink your About page. Start with them, not you. Once they feel seen, explain how your team is built to help them. You earn the right to talk about yourself after they feel understood. Let’s Talk SEO

Bobby C:

What about SEO? When should it be part of the plan?

Rav:

If you’re thinking about SEO after launch, You’re already late. It’s not a garnish; it’s the main ingredient. Start with content strategy. What are your customers Googling at 2:00 AM when they’re confused or stuck? Build your site and messaging around that search intent. Then —  Layout, structure, flow; all of that should match what people are actually looking for. And yes, technical SEO (site speed, mobile readiness, URLs) — we bake that in from day one. Where Does AI Fit In?

Bobby C:

Last one — the hot topic. Is AI really helping with websites?

Rav:

Oh, absolutely — if used right. AI speeds things up. We use it to: Draft content outlines Create customer personas Spot SEO gaps Generate quick landing page ideas But AI isn’t magic. You can’t prompt your way to a high-converting experience. Copy-paste AI content? Search engines are catching on. So for us? AI is the co-pilot; strategy’s still human.

Bobby C:

And that’s a wrap for Episode 1 of Clicks & Clarity. Today we covered: Why websites fall flat The fix: flow plus message plus trust Smart SEO (not last-minute SEO) And how to actually use AI in web development  If your website looks great but isn’t delivering leads, or if it’s just bringing in spam, that’s your sign.
