The Evolution of Twitter Tools – Curating Interesting Content

twitter tools

In our last blog in this series, we covered how one might go about gaining Twitter followers. Didn’t matter what kind, as long as there were followers to listen to what we had to say. But now that we have amassed all those followers, the obvious next step would be to give them content that serves the purpose.

Your Twitter account growth is 90% correlated to Tweet frequency. By increasing you tweet activity you increase exposure and therefore follower growth. And so it comes full circle.

So, it’s time to start curating content your audience could binge on. Oh, joy! – said no one ever.

Don’t get me wrong. I love writing as much as the next person, well maybe a little more, but you get it. The problem is, creating content – interesting content that can reel people in – is tough, not to mention time-consuming. And Twitter folk aren’t going to stick around for stale content. This is where we’re grateful for the world of Twitter tools!

Twitter is an ocean of content. Every second, on average, around 6,000 tweets are tweeted on Twitter, which corresponds to over 350,000 tweets sent per minute, 500 million tweets per day and around 200 billion tweets per year.

We’ll wait till you pick your jaw up off the floor.

Content curation is the process of finding existing, relevant content and sharing it with your audience online.

In the process, you are offering something of value by –

  • Demonstrating your expertise
  • Building relationships with others in your industry
  • Providing multiple viewpoints on relevant issues to your audience.

There are several apps and tools out there that help you curate content the fast way. But the one that peaked our interest was Quuu.

Quuu gives you “hand-curated content suggestions for social media”. It scours the internet and posts articles on your social media related to your interests.

Here’s one of Quuu’s graphics to show you how it works –

The great thing about Quuu is that it doesn’t give you random articles; the ‘handpicked’ articles by Quuu are according to your interests. There are several other tools out there, but none come close to what Quuu does. By seamlessly integrating with your Buffer account, Quuu gives you the option to schedule your posts so you’re always on track with your social calendar.

The internet is filled with millions of search pages having content on almost everything. With thousands of new articles published every day, Quuu is the one to start with to get a feel of things. When it comes to top notch curated content, this is the best I’ve ever seen.

What’s great about Quuu-

  • Handpicked articles
  • Choose from over 40 different interests
  • New interests added every week

What’s not so great about Quuu –

  • Free version only allows one platform
  • Paid versions are a tad pricey
  • Doesn’t have an inbuilt scheduling feature

Our Verdict –

The internet has 2 conundrums – there are those who don’t want to create new content and want someone else to do it for them. And then there are those who write great content, but don’t have anyone to read or share their content.

Quuu solves the problem for the first lot. Yes, it may cost a bit, but the good things in life are never free. The handpicked articles, its integration with one of the best scheduling tools (Buffer) and the option to view, accept or reject suggestions make it a great tool to have at hand. Of course, there’s still room for improvement like perhaps having an inbuilt scheduling tool rather than using Buffer as a mandate. Also, if you want to go over 5 categories of interest, you’ll need to upgrade. Price slabs obviously go up, but there’s a bunch of added features.

As for the second lot, Quuu comes pretty close to solving their problems too with Quuu Promote. Of course, that’s a topic we’ll aim to take on in our next blog of this series- the looming need for engagement on Twitter.
